who dis?

I arrived from my native France (the bit where they make wine and mustard) in July 2000, as part of the ongoing colonising effort started in 1066. Although well aware that English is little more than badly pronounced French, I had taken the precaution of studying the language at university before getting myself kicked out of the country (mostly for being by far too un-French).

The sad and corny truth is that I fell in love with London a few years before my migration, after spending a week walking the streets of this hallowed city. It was like coming home. And so it passed that sarf London did indeed become home.

During the intervening years, I sang with the London Gay Men's Chorus for over 10 years and flexed my political muscle by getting involved with his local LGBT network and LGBT History Month. I was a founding member and the moderator of the London Gay Reading Group, a contributor to Londonist.com and amnow working on developing my photographic skills. A neverending quest!

After playing with the content of people's websites for many years, I am now Deputy Editor for a trade magazine, Still playing with online content but also writing the odd article and lay out the print edition.

Ann Widdecombe once called me "an intelligent man", live on Radio 4, but I didn't really want to hurt Boy George...

mosaic of some of my best images

My choice of subjects is eclectic but guided by the tension between the documentary and the artistic. With an eye for the quirky detail, I strive to harness this tension harmoniously to create images that are both striking and beautiful.

I am a society photographer for a number of clubs in London, including Kuch Kuch Bollywood Nights, DILF, and Beefmince. I'm as comfortable shooting in big venues, such as Ministry of Sound, Infernos, the Troxy or the Electric Brixton, as I am in more intimate basement clubs in Dalston or busy bars in Soho. I was a regular contributor to QX Magazine between 2015 and the time of its closure in 2020. I now provide the same service for Gay London Life.

I have been photographing events for LGBT+ History Month (conference) and Builders' Merchants News (awards ceremony) for some years.

Examples of my work can be enjoyed on my online portfolio, on social media and on flickr (links below). Some of my images can also be licensed through Alamy, while others are held in the collections of the Black Cultural Archives, and of the Orange County Regional History Center. My work has appeared in a number of group exhibitions.

words

  covers of my short stories

Ever-since I got bitten by the reading bug when I was a little kid, ideas, words and languages have been immensely important in my life.

Books were my friends, and, without my learning of English as a foreign language, I would probably never have moved to London, let alone find a job in publishing.

I've had a much neglected blog for years (Pink Sauce), and have tried my hand at writting fiction, though I find the muse very fickle and of little help. Short outbursts on social media seem to be the extent of what I am capable of most of the time.

I have been Deputy Editor of a trade magazine since 2019, and, before that, have managed websites and social media accounts for a number of prestigious organisations.

A versatile and experienced content creator and photographer, I offer a wide range of editorial, graphic design, and creative skills supported by an awareness of branding, diversity and accessibility.

Ideal to become a valued part of a small multi-tasking team, I'm open to offers preferably in an arts, theatre, public affairs, human rights, heritage or fitness context, though not exclusively.

Other than the gym and if it is the weekend, the dancefloor of club I am photographing, you will be hard pressed to find outside my flat (where I also work during the week). I am totaly inept socially, and as a consquence find myself without a life.

However I spread myself much more thinly in the virtual world (not necessarily to much better effect, mind), and I can be found on a number of platforms. Here is a list of the ones I use most. Some of those accounts are barely in use, if at all.
